The television drama Mastan Girlfriend, featuring the popular small-screen actors Akhomo Hasan and Moushumi Hamid, was recently completed under the direction and scriptwriting of Rajib Moni Das. The drama also stars Kazi Raju, Sayka Ahmed, Jahangir Alam, Fahamida Rahaman Trisha, Farid Hossain, AB Rashid, and Milin Hossain, among others, in various roles.
The story follows Tanisha, a young woman who roams her village acting like a gangster. She even tries to extract love from her beloved Nader through threats and intimidation. Nader finds her behavior annoying. However, Tanisha’s “gangsterism” is of a different kind—she only targets local thieves, drug addicts, eve-teasers, extortionists, and bribe-takers. She deals sternly with wrongdoers and oppressors. Because of her, even the village leaders hesitate to take bribes.
Whenever Nader sees Tanisha, he pretends not to see her. Despite that, Tanisha continues to try to protect the man she loves. Nader also likes Tanisha, but avoids her because of her gangster persona. After all, no one appreciates a “gangster girl.” Even her mother can’t be happy with such behavior. Complaints about Tanisha reach her mother daily, though the mother hardly pays them any mind.
Director Rajib Moni Das commented, “The word ‘Mastan’ (gangster) tends to frighten us—we associate it with negativity. Initially, viewers will perceive the heroine of this story in a negative light. But as the story unfolds, they’ll discover why she acts like a gangster, who sees her as a thug, and why others see her as a just and compassionate figure. That revelation comes at the end. The mysterious character was very challenging. I believe viewers will enjoy this story.”
