Mother Teresa, who came from Albania to India, dedicated her life to serving underprivileged people until her last day. 26 August, 2025, marked the 115th birth anniversary of this great woman. She was born in 1910 in the city of Skopje, Albania. On the occasion of her birthday, the Bangladesh Sammilitto Sangskritik Society organized a discussion in her memory and hosted the Mother Teresa Award.
This year, in the Mother Teresa Award 2025, Rajib Moni Das was honored as the Best Playwright. He is well-known as a lyricist, novelist, and playwright. Recently, he was presented with this award at a hotel in Bijoynagar, Dhaka. The Best Playwright award was handed to him by renowned film personality Kazi Hayat (National Film Award winner) and Syed Margub Morshed.
Rajib Moni Das said, “Mother Teresa was a true symbol of humanity, a shining star whose contribution to social change is undeniable. Her life and work are an inspiration for us all.” Speaking about the award, he added, “An award is always recognition of one’s work. I dedicate today’s award to that great, noble woman—Mother Teresa.”
The event was attended by Chief Guest former Information Secretary and BTRC Chairman Syed Margub Morshed, film personality Kazi Hayat, Additional IGP of Police Sardar Tamizuddin Ahmed, Salam Mahmud (Executive Editor of Daily Gankontho), Engr. Bulbul Ahmed, journalist Abdul Malek (Daily Jugantor), Ali Ashraf Akhand, Biplob Sharif, and many others. The program was presided over by Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam Tamizi.
One of Mother Teresa’s famous quotes was recalled at the event: “What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.” She passed away on September 5, 1997, after suffering a heart attack.
